This week’s CVS shopping trip

Yesterday, Charity had a dentist appointment, so I was able to stop in at my CVS and do shopping.    For 12 cents I got: Dawn dishwashing liquid, Colgate toothpaste, and a bottle of CVS asprin (an August freebie).  Not a big transaction, but I am pleased!  We are going back to town Friday morning for Charity’s preschool screening, so I plan to make another stop.  They were out of the Pert Plus shampoo, so I hope to get some Friday. 

Let it rain, let it rain

Usually, I do not like rain.  It puts me in a bad mood, and it’s muddy, and yucky.  But, I’m really working hard on changing my moods and attitudes to be one of thankfullness.  The Lords knows best!  And, when I keep reminding myself of this, and determine that I am going to be happy and content with my circumstances, then I feel better!  So, for the past 3 days it has been raining here, so I say “let it rain”! 

So, besides my trial, what’s been going on here…

Last Saturday, myself & some friends went shopping.  All Day!!  I had not done that in soooooo long!  My parents kept the kids, and dh had to work.  There were 4 girls, ahem, women including myself that set out to shop at the nearest mall.  Okay, we live in the boon docks, so the nearest mall to us is a 2 hour drive.  Yep, we were that desperate to shop, and have some girl time. lol  We all chipped in for gas, so the gas cost wasn’t a problem. 

I was able to really look for some clothes for myself.  And, for the first time EVER, I came back with more for me than anyone.  Now, before you start thinking I’ve become all selfish, everyone else here was not in need of clothes like me.  I did start feeling guilty at some points, but dh was very adament that I buy clothes for me.  So, being the submissive wife that I am, I had to do it.  lol

I got Charity 2 outfits for school, and a new pair of flip flops.  And, I purchased Bob 3 shirts, and a pair of shorts.  We are going to Pigeon Forge, TN for some shopping next month, so then we will finish everyone up, as far as clothes go.

You know, I had forgotten how fun it is to clothes shop!  It must be a woman thing.  We are planning another shopping expedition in November, for Christmas shopping.  I’m excited!!!

I know I’ve not been here in awhile..

but I’ve been dealing with some family issues.  I have a very hard-to-get-along-with, step-mother in law.  When I say hard, I mean almost impossible.  I don’t really want to go into it, but she is difficult to deal with, and is very mean to my husband.    And, she is not accepting of our Christian beliefs. 

I have been in prayer all week about something she did last Sunday, and I am trying to deal with it best I can.  She wants us to all have a family meeting to work out some things.  And, I’m up for that, but she is very unreasonable, so I am praying that she will hear us out.  It is a very sad situation, and one that I hate to be in. 

But, I want to get back to my blogging (I just got started! lol), and not allow her or Satan to take my joy away.  I know that the devil is having his way with all this, so I know that with God dh and I will have the victory.  It’s a trial, and we will do as Christ wants, and will rejoice in the trial and victory.  It will make us stronger in Him, I know that.  So, no more being aggravated with it!!!! 

Works for me Wednesday

Waking up with Bob every morning at 5 am, can be extremely difficult, but it definitely Works for Me.  Actually, it works for the entire family.  When I wake up, and don’t go back to bed, things around here run much more smoothly.  The house looks better, and my attitude is better.  I’m usually done with my regular daily chores by 8 am.  This leaves me with plenty of time to do extra things.  I get time to play with the kids, and I can even take a nap (some days ).

I would have felt better today, had I….

actually gotten some sleep!!!!  aaarrrrggghhh!  Last night, I just could not go to sleep.  I couldn’t relax at all.  I got up twice and got online.  I had to go to the bathroom 3 times, get a drink of water, tossed and turned.  I finally went to sleep at about 2 am, then the baby woke me up at about 3:15, and then again at 4:13.  So, after Bob went to work, I went back to bed.  I did get some rest, but I’m looking forward to a *hopefully* night of sleep tonight. 

Menu Plan Monday-First post

Monday-I’ve not decided yet, because I’m sick, so whatever it is it will be super easy

Tuesday-soup beans, fried potatoes, and cornbread

Wednesday-Tues leftovers

Thursday-Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, salad, corn, rolls

Friday-BBQ burgers, fries or hotdogs & fries (we do something quick because we grocery shop!)

Saturday-I’ll be gone shopping all day with some family, so I’ll be eating out, and Bob will make his own or have me make it for him, not sure yet what it will be!

Doing the minimums

I’m still sick, but better.  Thank God!  The kids are getting better too.  Some rest yesterday has really helped, and I’m not going to overdo it today.  With days like these I just do the minimums around here.  That’s hard to do, though!  Because I really want to do everything I normally do on Mondays, and all of my everyday chores.  But, I know that getting my rest is much more important.  So, for today I am only going to: keep things tidy, wash & dry a load of clothes, make sure the floor is clean, and cook a simple dinner.  I’m not even going to put the washed & dried clothes away.  I need my rest, so tomorrow I can do some more.    What are the bare minimums you do when you and yours are sick??  I’d like to know!!

No grocery shopping or church here

I was really hoping I would feel up to grocery shop, and evening Worship, but this nasty flu ended up dragging me way down, so here I am.  I’m trying to take it easy.  Bob ended up going to Save-A-Lot for us.  He took Charity while baby Dylan and I napped.  2 hours later they arrived home, and we woke up.  The nap did do me some good, but I’m still very weak.  I was really wanting to do the CVS deal I had worked up with my coupon.  Now, that coupon expires today, so no deal.  Oh well.

Battling the sickies around here

Everyone here, except Bob, has been sick for the past couple of days.  Charity has a cold, Baby Dylan has a cold and ear infection, and I have a touch of the flu.  Bob and I went fishing Friday night, and I was in perfect health, then bam!  I started feeling horrible.  I guess it was the cool night air or something.  I’ve been holding the baby a lot, and keeping his nose clean and clear, and giving him Motrin as needed.  He’s doing a little better this morning.    We’re not going to attend Worship services this morning, but hopefully we can this evening. 

Just a bit ago when I came into the dining room (my computer is there), Dylan had climbed up 3 steps!!!  This is the first time he’s done this, so I was happy that he’d made that “step” (pun intended) in growing, but relieved I caught him in time.  Now, it’s time to block the stairs!  

At some point today, we have to get groceries.  We all felt so horrible yesterday that we decided not to go shopping.  So, today we plan on making our weekly trip.  I need to make my CVS list as well, and go there.  I have a $3/$15 coupon that has to be used today, and I think I’ve figured out a pretty decent deal scenario to use it with.  I’ll post that later!!
